This 98 minute ArchiCAD training video (recorded during a live webinar December 20, 2011) explains how to customize MasterTemplate to suit your needs and preferences.

Customization starts with saving a separate copy of the template TPL file with a name you can distinguish from the original download. It is expected that all users will do basic customization including adding company information to the Masters for the Title Block, and cleaning up the links to the Legends, General Notes PDF, the company logo and any other graphic files.

Beyond the basics, it is possible to reconfigure the Layout Book, add or modify Interactive Schedules, adjust the definitions of Layer Combinations, Model View Options, Dimension Preferences, or anything else that ArchiCAD allows you to set. Whatever you do in the template will be inherited in all future project files, so it is good to make it as “form-fitting” as possible.
